Pros

There were some intelligent people that I learned from and a few friendships I still cherish. If you had friends at the top, you were golden.

Cons

Pretty much from date of hire until date of my decision to vacate. Bullying, favoritism, you name it. A new kind of "Mean Girls". Pay cuts year after year. I made more the minute I started than the minute I resigned. Childish management. Scare tactics. Arrogance more prominent than forward-thinkers. Work hours horrific, no cares given to quality of life or family--the bottom line always prevailed. Blame game was constant. Higher ups never took responsibility for failures. Weak training. Advancement opportunities were basically non-existent unless you joined the Mean Squad. Their mission statement is the exact opposite of how this company was run.

Pros

This is definitely one of the better-run departments at the company. I found the management to be good people overall and the work itself is varied enough to have stayed interesting. Did not plan on leaving. If you like writing emails all day long instead of being on the phones, this is an excellent job for you. Could be stressful but typically was a breeze and it was very educational in terms of learning about the TPA/insurance industry. Company is remote-first which is awesome, we were not expected to travel as a job duty in this role.

Cons

Honestly most of the gripes I had were with other departments' inefficiencies. We lost a lot of people at once and the workload was moved around which increased the stress but I can't really blame this on the department. Some of the higher-ups we worked with could be rude to other CSRs but were usually respectful to me. There is an out of office inbox that is always a mess, that was likely the most stressful part of the job besides sometimes dealing with angry B2B clients. The clients however were usually respectful, too, provided you answered them promptly. I didn't feel there was much room for me to move up, however, I would have been happy in the same role anyway and they do have senior positions for basically the same role once you've been there for a while that would come with a sizable pay raise and conversation to salary.
