Pros

Compensation and benefits are above average for claims adjusters. PTO time is generous and having a pension and a 401K is great. Pay ranges from $36000 to $80000 for adjusters based on skill and time in service.

Cons

More work than people to do it. No opportunity to move around in the company once you reach a certain salary so you become stuck in a position and can never get out. Allstate would rather hire someone with no experience off the street for $36000 than transfer someone making $60000 to an lateral opening. Promotional opportunities are not great and you usually have to be very mobile to take advantage of them. Lots of favoritism and minorities have a better chance at promotions as well. This company is stuck in processes that do not make a lot of sense and change takes forever as home office takes forever to sign off on anything. Adjusters are so specialized that customers have to talk to 4 different people to just settle their claim. Training is minimal and does not always address all you need to know.
