Pros

I have no pros for this company.

Cons

You are in bad hands from start to finish. You change managers frequently so that by the time you reach your annual review you may have a manager that has only spoke to you just a bit. Aggressive leadership principals. If you are not a leader you are punished. Your on the phone metrics are only 50 percent of what they use to determine your raises. You can be perfect on the phone and if you are not a leader or you are but your manager does not write it all down and they conveniently move you to a new manager who "I can only judge you by what I personally see." The leadership principals have this effect: They keep you in your place. You are good enough to keep in your role but not good enough to pay more too. 2.5 years I worked and never got a raise. Allstate is terrible to their agents and I have never spoken to so many angry agents in my life. And they have reason. Allstate competes against their captive agents. If you get a quote at the agency and a quote directly from Allstate the direct quote is cheaper. Allstate justifies this by saying they are saving on premiums. The agencies are in bad hands too. Not a trade secret. Just get two quotes with identical things. Allstate has discrimination. I was discriminated against. I stupidly filed a complaint with HR. HR talked to my manager and told the manager of the complaint. They informed me that she was receptive of the feedback. They kept me on the team with this manager. The incident was in mid September. The manager wrote my review in January. If there wasn't a measured metric they lied. I filed a complaint of retaliation. Too much time passed for retaliation I was told. Oh and they fire you if you give a notice that you are going to a competitor even though it turns out that Allstate sends some policies to that competitor.

Pros

There appeared to be a lot of pros. Could leads lots of opportunity to sell different things. And the backing of a large company.

Cons

I went through the entire interview process, with the assumption that I would be working for allstate. Second day of training, I was informed that I was going to be part of the national general group. Basically, everything that was told to me during my recruitment was not correct.Because it was a whole different ball game..a whole different company. Commission structures for this group have been slashed four times in the last two and a half years. Within a year and a half of my group getting hired, there are less than five people left for my hiring class.
