Pros

Benefits are industry standard; nothing bad, nothing spectacular. The people are nice, for the most part but your experience depends on where you work. Charlotte is somewhat stuffy vs. locations like Detroit and Jacksonville. Honestly though, the Audit world will be stuffy regardless of location.

Cons

There is a lack of consistency between what the senior leadership says and what they actually do. There are no checks and balances to ensure that the culture that is preached on commercials and inside of the organization, is actually realized by those working there. You have supervisors and managers who act as if they are kings and queens of their units or departments with little concern about how they actually treat employees. Your experience will depend on what area you work in. I worked in several different areas and the audit department was the absolute worst. The leader there is awful - she should have been a school teacher because she is not equipped to lead people. She is distant, cold and could care less about how her staff really feels nor does she care about living out the organizational culture. If you work in one of the sales oriented centers, you will find a male dominated culture, lacking consistency in leadership with supervisors who should have been relieved of their duties years ago - no integrity and not clear vision for leading people effectively.

Pros

Hybrid schedule is reasonable, with only three days a week required in office. Benefits are decent and we have a fairly new office building is a nice.

Cons

Don’t be fooled by Glassdoor’s rating. It likely reflects the old Ally, not the company it is today. Ally used to be a great place to work, with strong culture, meaningful work, and real innovation. They used to pride themselves on culture, and now it’s the worst I’ve seen it. There have been significant leadership changes, with many of the leaders who made Ally great shown the door. Round after round of layoffs has everyone whispering about who’s next, and the people who remain here are stuck cycling through failed re-orgs meant to “fix” the department. It’s gotten bad enough that I know people actively hoping to get cut just to walk away with severance. If it doesn’t get better soon, I might be hoping to be let go myself. I can’t recommend it the way I once would have.
