Pros
Exposure to lots of different industries - In the Client Service role, you will get exposure to a wide variety of industries and it's up to you to capitalize on that. While some may view the role as "monotonous", those people simply aren't engaging their brains. If you get hired, you are A. smart and B. hard working. If you engage those assets to the job, you will learn a ton about every industry from experts who have been in their industries forever. That’s extremely valuable and decidedly not boring. Amazing people - The team at AlphaSights works hard, plays hard and supports each other. Rarely will you find a company or group of people so strongly invested in each other’s mutual success. Across levels in the company, I have built lifelong connections and go-to people that I can engage with for the rest of my career. Incredible growth opportunity for those who perform - If you bring your A-game, you will be recognized and rewarded. End of story.
Cons
Chips on shoulders - Young associates, while extremely smart seem to have high opinions of themselves and expect to be "gifted" promotion and mentorship from the company. The most successful associates and managers have the smart + humble combo, and bust their butts to find mentors inside and outside of the business. As an outgoing manager who worked hard for what (s)he got, it was extremely frustrating when new associates expected promotions or mentorship simply to be handed to them. Growing Pains - While title changes and restructuring are part of any company’s evolution, the short term pain is always frustrating. If you’re able to see the bigger picture and actually listen what management is saying to you, it will pan out.
