Pros

Gives back to local charities Discount, kind of

Cons

First, the hours allow for not work life balance, especially with the new change to remaining in the store until 11pm (2 hours past closing). Additionally, some months total hours allocated are cut, so there is minimal staff during the day when actually handling customers to allow for the additional hours after close. Additionally many employees have a 30-45 minute drive home, so rating until 11 puts them in a dangerous position while driving home, especially on weekends. Second, staffing of management takes an excruciatingly long time. Some management was strung along for longest before hiring. Third, upper management visits are unproductive. There is no constructive criticisms or suggestions for improvement, insteaf store management gets a slap on the wrist if you don't make day. Sometimes days are slow with low traffic, but the focus is so much on the financial aspect not the customer service aspect, that what could be a beautiful store with exceptional employees gets overlooked. This leads to more requirements such as changing tables and windows even more often if you don't make day. Overall, working for this company is frustrating and draining with little support or acknowledgement from upper management. You won't feel appreciated, especially employees in management positions who work many hours and work on visuals to make the store look good.

Thank you for your note and for your feedback. Closing our stores up to 2 hours after closing allows for our stores to open fresh and fully ready to service our guests. This is far less time than most retailers from a closing perspective and we owe it to our guests to create the best experience for them. Folding and sizing products when the store is open does not provide an exceptional experience for either our associates or guests. As for store visits, Altar'd State made a commitment long ago to provide 2 District Managers per District to allow for additional support, coaching, and development of our management teams. Store Walk notes, development plans and recognition programs and contests are all part of our culture and operations program. Please feel free to call me with any questions or concerns. Our goal is to create a better experience for you and I would like to help.

Pros

Literally nothing, can’t think of one positive thing

Cons

I’ve been with the company for years and watching its continuous downfall has become almost comical. Two years ago we took major pay cuts (like 15%) because of the economy but this year they sent us to the Virgin Islands on this over the top meeting that must have cost a fortune. I’d rather have the money in my bank versus a trip I was forced to go on with senior leadership that are absolute horrific people in general and evil businesses people. It all felt like a big propaganda event with tons of videoing and picture taking so they could come home and post all over linked in and social media about how WONDERFUL it is to work there. Don’t even get me started on the new Little House on the Prairie denim dresses we have to wear because they hire managers that aren’t even strong enough to coach to a dress code. How can you run a store if you can’t even tell someone what they’re wearing inappropriate? Instead now we look like a bunch of little followers of the cult everyone already says it is. As long as we say we “stand out for good” at every opportunity it must mean it’s true right? To know who else brainwashed people into thinking bad things are good for them? CULT LEADERS.
