Pros

1. Employee Discount 40% off 2. Pretty/Aesthetic Store 3. Flexible Hours The store is beautiful, the customers have been very friendly so far. I haven't really had a bad experience! I got this job to make some money over the break before going back to school. I chose retail because I wanted new clothes at a discount, so Altar'd State seemed pretty perfect considering I love their stuff. I have bought new clothes with my discount, gained experience in retail, and definitely got to work on my people skills! Did I looooove going to work and standing for 5 or 6 hours? No, but who would. It goes by fast when there are things to do. I worked as a "seller" so I would just help customers find things, fold clothes, recover the store, etc. Nothing too difficult.

Cons

1. 5-6 hour shifts with no break 2. There is a 2 hour close time, that means if the mall closes at 9 you can't leave until 11. 3. Start out pay isn't that high 4. They don't restock stores, so we are constantly out of sizes. 5. Music is very repetitive. 6. Employee drama/gossip Working here definitely makes you rethink how you see the store because it's very unorganized. I wasn't really trained on much except for the cash register, but the majority of things that customers come to me asking about I can't help them with because I am not a Guest Lead or Manager. I also don't get paid as much as my other friends did working at different stores. I'm a college student so I didn't need money to pay rent, but if you are looking to have a full time job to support yourself, this may not be the job for you because I only make $9.25 as a brand rep. I think I worked a maximum of 26 hours one week out of the 4 total I worked, but again I worked the holiday season and took an extra shift here and there where I could.

Pros

Literally nothing, can’t think of one positive thing

Cons

I’ve been with the company for years and watching its continuous downfall has become almost comical. Two years ago we took major pay cuts (like 15%) because of the economy but this year they sent us to the Virgin Islands on this over the top meeting that must have cost a fortune. I’d rather have the money in my bank versus a trip I was forced to go on with senior leadership that are absolute horrific people in general and evil businesses people. It all felt like a big propaganda event with tons of videoing and picture taking so they could come home and post all over linked in and social media about how WONDERFUL it is to work there. Don’t even get me started on the new Little House on the Prairie denim dresses we have to wear because they hire managers that aren’t even strong enough to coach to a dress code. How can you run a store if you can’t even tell someone what they’re wearing inappropriate? Instead now we look like a bunch of little followers of the cult everyone already says it is. As long as we say we “stand out for good” at every opportunity it must mean it’s true right? To know who else brainwashed people into thinking bad things are good for them? CULT LEADERS.
