Pros

1.) Caring & Loving - This company cares and loves it's employees, it's communities, children, the world, and most importantly its guest! They are always sending reminders to love on your co-workers, guest, and employees. They want managers to show love to their brand reps and other employees! If you send out a prayer request, don't be surprised when our CEO responds with encouragement and prayer. It will probably happen! Even if your just part-time holiday help, no one is to small for him to reply! They care for and give to our local communities through Mission Monday (The stores) and tons of ways in Maryville TN (Home Office).. They even encourage ALL employees to give back, part-time included by giving all employees 4 hours of volunteer time each month.. All you have to do is use it! They give back in Peru, they give back all over the world! Caring and loving is part of the culture here and you can see it everyday! I have NEVER seen anyone yelling or screaming at employees. Will they fuss? Yes, if your not doing your job don't expect a pat on the back but I have never seen yelling or anyone putting anyone down. They might fuss and coach but that's only to make you better!! They do love and care about you 2.) Challenging Company - The company does challenge their employees and want them to be successful. This might not be for everyone, but I enjoy it because there is always something to do. Don't expect to just run a cash register here, don't expect to be lazy here. Expect to do work outside of your department but EVERYONE in the home office is happy to help out everywhere. It's part of the culture and was explained to me upfront so no surprises. 3.) Decent to GREAT Benefits - Part-Time gets the 4 hours of volunteer time plus other benefits. Full-Time gets paid time off, vacation, health, dental, 1 month paid sabbatical after being here for 5 years and more! They keep getting better and better! They are affordable and easy to obtain! They will pay towards your student loans and more! Simple perks like free sodas at the home office! 4.) Beautiful Building to work in. Friendly building to work in! 5.) They try their best to work with your schedule if you need something off. No promises (Just like any company) but they will do everything they can! 6.) Growing Passionate company that wants successful employees and they will help you be successful! They want you to be happy at work and will help you be happy! A lot of the employees at the Home Office have moved up from within the company. Help Desk folks are now network engineers. Store Managers are now buyers. People do move up if you are willing to work & move. I talk to key holders and assistant store mangers that were brand reps everyday so they do move up! Just work hard and when something opens, they will choose the best person for that position. 7.) Company rules - Stand Out. For Good is their slogan and the only rule they have is "Do what's right". No dress codes or anything! If you have a meeting dress up! It's only right! If its a regular day at work wear jeans and a polo! It's fine.. Just do whats right 8.) People Development (HR)- They keep improving this area.. They are improving training! They are improving communication. The leadership IS VISITING stores and building up the team. I went through one of their new on-boarding's and it was great! They try to keep you upbeat and happy. These people will help you if you have any issues! Just reach out to them. Overall - Most folks at the home office seem to love it here. They are happy and passionate about the company. I talk to store employees daily and I am sure there are a few bad apples out there (What company doesn't have bad apples) but most love the company, most love working here and most love the CEO and leadership team! The company really does have a great leadership team! You don't have to be Christian to work here, they welcome anyone that is passionate about the company and that wants to be successful. They have high expectations and it is important to understand those but AGAIN they only want you to be successful!

Cons

Not really any for me, I have worked retail most of my life so I am used to it! It is a retail company so expect it to be busy around the Holidays. Don't expect to take a vacation around the Holidays. On the store level, hours might be limited during the slow time. Pay can be lower than some departments BUT pay is on par for retail in most positions. Pay in some positions (Like my department) is a little low for the area but hopefully they are working on that and it's not much lower. If you don't want to work hard you probably wont fit in here. If you want a simple job, Altar'd State might not be for you. They will push you but only because they want you to be successful. They want BOTH YOU and the COMPANY to succeed. If you don't like the sounds of that, you will probably fill this con section up. For me, I like it here and think they are a great employer! Again, none of this was a surprise to me!

Pros

Literally nothing, can’t think of one positive thing

Cons

I’ve been with the company for years and watching its continuous downfall has become almost comical. Two years ago we took major pay cuts (like 15%) because of the economy but this year they sent us to the Virgin Islands on this over the top meeting that must have cost a fortune. I’d rather have the money in my bank versus a trip I was forced to go on with senior leadership that are absolute horrific people in general and evil businesses people. It all felt like a big propaganda event with tons of videoing and picture taking so they could come home and post all over linked in and social media about how WONDERFUL it is to work there. Don’t even get me started on the new Little House on the Prairie denim dresses we have to wear because they hire managers that aren’t even strong enough to coach to a dress code. How can you run a store if you can’t even tell someone what they’re wearing inappropriate? Instead now we look like a bunch of little followers of the cult everyone already says it is. As long as we say we “stand out for good” at every opportunity it must mean it’s true right? To know who else brainwashed people into thinking bad things are good for them? CULT LEADERS.
