Pros

Great store team, good discount, guests I get to work with daily, visuals are gorgeous, local non profit partnership.

Cons

Underpaid store employees. Store manager, assistant manager and guest lead work insane hours without breaks because as of now our store is very understaffed. We’ve had MULTIPLE (4+) brand reps walk out within 2-3 weeks, a guest lead leaving, then on top of our store manager being transferred and also needing a new assistant operations manager. And the company doesn’t see that as a red flag? I love the people I work with so much, and the guests I get to help day to day and that makes such a difference in a work environment. But when you are asked SO much of, only to get very underpaid for what you are asked of.... I don’t know. Floorsets and markdowns are incredibly draining especially when you do not get any extra incentives for doing them, when they are 9pm to 4 or even 5am? And floorsets are often 3+ days, how can it possibly take that long? They are often unorganized and really just a waste of time, if you ask me. Of course our store looks beautiful but honestly if we truly took one night to do it all, i’m sure we would get the same results. I’m a full time college student and am expected to work if there is a floor set or markdown until 5 am when I have class the next morning or homework due! Even if you are just closing on a normal night you have a 2 hour closing time (meaning getting to leave work at 11pm) which is a little ridiculous considering it takes maybe an hour to do all closing duties. HIGH TURNOVER RATE!!!! Incase I didn’t emphasize that with how many employees have just recently left our team. Corporate requires store managers higher a certain amount of brand reps, which means low payroll hours for people like me who were told we would get 15-20+ hours a week. Sure it’s a lot for college students but I do have bills to pay and I can manage it between homework and class if I’m not working until 5 am. It’s also a little crazy that stores don’t have cameras? And we aren’t ever allowed to question if someone is stealing something, yet we get reprimanded when we aren’t continually lowering shrink rate. In a company where we strive to “Stand Out for Good”, maybe you should consider respecting employees a bit more, because at the end of the day, we work for you, and we are selling YOUR merchandise.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review us on Glassdoor. I’d love the opportunity to talk with you in more detail about your experience with us. We do strive to become a Top 100 Place to Work, because we feel our associates enjoying where they work, who they work with, and what the company stands for helps us reach so many other company goals. I’d also like to let you know that we recently increased salaries across the brand, which has been well received by our team! I’ll pass your comment regarding Axonify on to our Training Department as they are constantly looking for more ways to better train and develop our associates. Again, would like the chance to connect and learn more. Please reach out to the People Development Team at peopledevelopment@altardstate.com to schedule some time to talk. We appreciate and value all our associates along with any and all feedback.

Pros

Literally nothing, can’t think of one positive thing

Cons

I’ve been with the company for years and watching its continuous downfall has become almost comical. Two years ago we took major pay cuts (like 15%) because of the economy but this year they sent us to the Virgin Islands on this over the top meeting that must have cost a fortune. I’d rather have the money in my bank versus a trip I was forced to go on with senior leadership that are absolute horrific people in general and evil businesses people. It all felt like a big propaganda event with tons of videoing and picture taking so they could come home and post all over linked in and social media about how WONDERFUL it is to work there. Don’t even get me started on the new Little House on the Prairie denim dresses we have to wear because they hire managers that aren’t even strong enough to coach to a dress code. How can you run a store if you can’t even tell someone what they’re wearing inappropriate? Instead now we look like a bunch of little followers of the cult everyone already says it is. As long as we say we “stand out for good” at every opportunity it must mean it’s true right? To know who else brainwashed people into thinking bad things are good for them? CULT LEADERS.
