Pros

-This is a really sweet company to work for. The management at my store is focused on making everyone feel included and appreciated. I think that this extends to the corporate culture--we have paid time to complete weekly e-classes on merchandising and there are various personal growth activities (typically involving setting goals for ourselves, etc). One day, our regional manager came in to visit us and I was so worried that I would miss a point on greeting, but instead she texted our manager asking what drinks everyone would like from Starbucks and showed up really cheerful and interested to get to know us. -We have pretty flexible scheduling and the Store Leader is good about scheduling you within the times that you set in your availability. I've been allowed time off for holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas) even though I'm relatively new. -We have a really positive community. I don't think I've ever heard one employee bad-mouthing another employee and I think this is a really important part of work-place happiness. We also have little note pockets with each employe's name on them in our backroom and you can put thank you notes/hellos in there, which people actually do a lot. -The store participates in give-backs to the local community so we get to learn about charities in Portland. We are also encouraged to participate in paid volunteer hours through the store, which is a perk I haven't seen anywhere else. We have group volunteer organized by one of the store managers. -And finally, we have a generous discount (30-50%) on store merchandise.

Cons

-The sales goals can be a bit ambitious and sometimes stress me out because I like to always complete my goals. I wish that the sales goals were actually fitted to each employee, working on their own sales growth. -Now when I shop elsewhere, I realize that we do a LOT more than other stores require. Sometimes I feel like this is a pro (proud to be part of an organization that cares more about meeting every last customer need) and other times I feel like this is a con (I get exhausted).

Pros

Literally nothing, can’t think of one positive thing

Cons

I’ve been with the company for years and watching its continuous downfall has become almost comical. Two years ago we took major pay cuts (like 15%) because of the economy but this year they sent us to the Virgin Islands on this over the top meeting that must have cost a fortune. I’d rather have the money in my bank versus a trip I was forced to go on with senior leadership that are absolute horrific people in general and evil businesses people. It all felt like a big propaganda event with tons of videoing and picture taking so they could come home and post all over linked in and social media about how WONDERFUL it is to work there. Don’t even get me started on the new Little House on the Prairie denim dresses we have to wear because they hire managers that aren’t even strong enough to coach to a dress code. How can you run a store if you can’t even tell someone what they’re wearing inappropriate? Instead now we look like a bunch of little followers of the cult everyone already says it is. As long as we say we “stand out for good” at every opportunity it must mean it’s true right? To know who else brainwashed people into thinking bad things are good for them? CULT LEADERS.
