Pros
Good pay, benefits, and great place to try new things and learn a lot. You can easily surround yourself amongst other motivated and smart people who enjoy what they do. Work life balance can be good depending on workload.
Cons
Often deadlines and job responsibilities have unrealistic expectations. Teams often work in silos and don’t communicate across projects that affect multiple teams and organizations. It’s like they’re so big they don’t know what others are doing. Also expect little to no raises and the bar to keep raising. It felt very much like the carrot and stick. Learn more, be more productive, and they expect more but don’t give it back. I know a big proponent to this is managers in the wrong places. Often times they don’t know what you do or understand your workload or what deadlines should be realistic based on head count. I’ve seen others say similar things and get burnt out too. The job scaling is also bs I’ve seen a lot of people be 2-3 job levels under what they actually do and it seems to be by design. I’ve also seen people create projects that are innovative just to get a promotion and then have their tools die. There’s a lot of politics at play and hard work doesn’t seem to mean much.
