Top Company but difficult to grow - Central Sales Representative Amazon Web Services Employee Review

Pros

AWS is a great company to work for, the culture is one of the best out there and really makes sense to embrace and live by it. You can move roles and try new things to find what suits you best. You own your career and managers generally support you well if you're looking to switch role. Unbeatable product and constant innovation

Cons

There's a huge fight for visibility and to advance, which can create a bit of a toxic ambience. You need to make sure you have the right manager or you will enjoy the experience much less. There are next to no additional benefits that are commonplace at other companies. The company will spend big on things that don't make much sense and employees get little back. Work life balance can be a struggle sometimes.

Pros

Strong engineering culture, competitive pay, great learning opportunities, and excellent internal mobility across teams.

Cons

Work-life balance can be tough, on-call rotations are demanding, and the pace is fast with high expectations.

Pros

Ambitious projects if you're in the right team. Typically great team-mates. Don't believe the memes, the ppl are not back stabbing jerks but are overall genuinely nice. Not constrained by budgets when building cool things. Tools while sometimes clunky are powerful.

Cons

Schizophrenic lack of focus, entire teams get split, merged and upended multiple times a quarter. Some product managers are disconnected from reality. It didn't use to be the case, the PM-Ts were previously top notch. You're pushed to vibe code everything. Established products with loyal customers are getting neglected. Newer VP level leaders don't seem to know what they are doing. Veteran OG VP level leaders are either leaving in droves or seem stressed or checked out.
