Pros
- Many colleagues are good from personal and professional perspectives. - Good medical group insurance and RRSP matching. - Good compensation (if not taking into account the working hours on evenings and weekends which aren't additionally compensated). - Gives good understanding and hands-on experience in full SDLC and diverse software development technologies.
Cons
- Very poor work life balance because of on call production support duties after business hours. The work life balance even deteriorates constantly over the years because more and more applications and projects are loaded on the same developers. - Promotions are very rare and not always make sense. - A lot of work with outdated bizarre technologies in many teams, so it is very difficult to find a better job outside of Amdocs. - No possibility to be in control of your own professional development route. - Too bureaucratic day-to-day production support working procedures where you need to write many reports and emails. - Bad and incompetent management. - Too much multitasking which is very annoying. - Performance is measured based on number of hours worked rather than the good work done. - Disconnect between developers and managers. There are about two one-on-one meetings per year with your project manager, but never any one-on-one meetings with your director and above.
