Pros

- Adequate pay - Mileage reimbursement is fair and easy

Cons

- Mediocre benefits - Slow accrual of paid time off - Salary compensation, instead of hourly compensation, which leads to inadequate payment for hours worked (especially as a nurse) - Average of 10-12 hour days - Must use own cell phone (work phone not provided) which creates large issues with disconnecting from work during time off. And phone compensation is cumbersome and time consuming, not automatic. - Mandatory coverage for being on-call without compensation for time spent while on-call and personal experience of not being compensated when called or performing patient visit while on-call - Human resources and IT are centralized as Amedisys is a nationwide company, so performing HR tasks or working with HR or IT is cumbersome, time-consuming, and nearly impossible to fit into a normal work day that does not allow time for fitting in HR or IT needs if they present themselves (same goes for mandatory ongoing educations/webinars that cannot be fit into a normal workday and end up being done after hours, increasing the length of the work day) - High turnover rate, especially for LNA's and nurses

Pros

- I love being able to make my own schedule and see patients on my own time. - I love the care center hospice team that I work with. My DOO (Director of Operations) is very kind, a team player, and encourages the team to be their best. - Insurance benefits are also a plus (Blue Cross/Blue Sheild).

Cons

- I don't enjoy having to drive around and to far distances to see patients. Also, don't enjoy when patients and family members cancel visits because I won't get paid unless I make the visit. - Upper management doesn't care about the well-being of the local care center employees. Upper management puts to much stress on the DOO for stats and productivity quotas. - Upper management is cheap and doesn't contribute money to celebrate their employees like with a Christmas party (local care centers have to bring pot-luck style food and throw their own Christmas parties).
