Pros

If you want to grow and move into new roles there is opportunity. The benefits are pretty good.

Cons

The pay is not even across the board it is very frequent that a newer employee is paid more then then an older one I saw this as a manager privy to raises which rarely happen. There is no work life balance, people are not replaced and you are expected to work on with your now less then even skeleton crew like it’s not a barrier. HR does not exist to mediate but to protect upper management. Every employee I saw contact HR was fired or “came to an agreement” to leave with 1-2 months of calling them. And that’s the biggest con. Your success is not dependent on the value you bring, the success of your care center, your time with the company or anything work related but wether upper management likes you. Moving from one end of the country to another showed a completely different side of amedisys. Went from being a star employee to never doing anything right but curiously both care centers did the best they ever did while I was there including getting a home health elite award. But that doesn’t matter because what’s valued is not results but wether you sing the praises of an upper management that quite frankly is nothing but overhead cost.

Pros

- I love being able to make my own schedule and see patients on my own time. - I love the care center hospice team that I work with. My DOO (Director of Operations) is very kind, a team player, and encourages the team to be their best. - Insurance benefits are also a plus (Blue Cross/Blue Sheild).

Cons

- I don't enjoy having to drive around and to far distances to see patients. Also, don't enjoy when patients and family members cancel visits because I won't get paid unless I make the visit. - Upper management doesn't care about the well-being of the local care center employees. Upper management puts to much stress on the DOO for stats and productivity quotas. - Upper management is cheap and doesn't contribute money to celebrate their employees like with a Christmas party (local care centers have to bring pot-luck style food and throw their own Christmas parties).
