Pros

flexibility - you can work at the time you want. (But because of the heavy workload, flexibility is meaningless. You should work more and more than you want.)

Cons

1. Workload - Too much for one person. Expect one merchandiser to manage whole store, and on top of that, assign other near stores, too. 2. Hours - They assign weekly jobs and hours for that. But it is impossible to complete the work within given hours. If you overwork and submit more hours, you'll get warning email. They don't pay for the overwork. And still demand to complete the work within given hours. You can request help from other store, but if you work with some one else, for example, two people worked for one hour, then both people should split the time and submit only 30 minutes. They are very nervous in over time, because they don't want to pay you more. But they maximize your duty, sending five to six boxes every week and give you only half amount of time than you really need. 3. Inefficiency - They send you boxes too often, so while you are working on some boxes, and place each single card packet to the assigned pocket, you will get new boxes for revision. Revision means discard current cards and replace with new card at new location, which makes your previous job useless. When revision, they don't discard just couple of cards, they throw away almost all cards displayed at the whole 4 inch cabinet. People always pick up a card and glance it and then misplace it other pocket. That happens every minute. Then you need to collect all misplaced cards, and then scan each of them and then put it its original place. If you find damaged cards or 'no location' scanned signs, you should scan all of them with 'negative adjusted' tab, which means scan for removal. Only after then, you can discard them, which requires another bunch of time. 4. Waste of overproduction - They are AMERICAN GREEDY. Too much overproduction. They send you too many boxes then they really can sell. You'll have hard time to put them up on the pocket, which is already packed tightly. Especially for seasonal cards, such as mother's day, father's day, and graduation, they send and send boxes until the last week of that days arrive. And then just the next morning of those holidays, they throw away whole cards, which will be several hundreds or more. They never recycle. Just throw away all. 5. In short - Don't recommend this job and this company to anyone.

Pros

Great flexibility and work/life balance. Management is great, if they stick around. Good for a side job.

Cons

You cannot provide for a family only working this job. The workload does not align with the hours allotted to complete tasks. Many tasks require significantly more time than is given making it very difficult and stressful. You are constantly rushing to complete tasks so you do not go over time. Most weeks, the available hours are very limited. You may get 1-2 hours a week and the pay being between $11-$13 an hour, that’s not much of a paycheck. You will spend more on gas traveling to a store with only 1 hour you can work. Travel is only compensated between stores. This job also requires working on certain holidays but there is no extra holiday pay or bonuses. Only employees at stores with high sales get rewarded points to spend on items on their web-store. Large seasonal resets are extremely demanding due to the volume of work in a tight timeframe. Instructions for activities are not always clear, which can be confusing. Obtaining support is almost impossible, as field support wait times are very long and managers are managing heavy workloads themselves, limiting their availability. Store experiences vary. Some store associates are helpful, while others can be difficult to work with. A lot of time can be wasted waiting around or hunting down workers to get equipment needed to complete activities. Customers frequently complain about the cost of our items mainly the greeting cards. The devices provided to workers needs an update. Timekeeping requires a considerable amount of manual entry, including location, activity codes and store numbers. I have a list of codes and numbers saved in my phone because it it way too much to remember. The app is complicated and not very user friendly. Employees must also review and approve their time weekly on a separate app. Given today’s technology, a more streamlined and user-friendly system would greatly improve efficiency. After holidays, removing and disposing of greeting cards is quite an undertaking. There is a lot of waste in plastics, paper and cardboard. Employees are expected to record time spent transmitting data, reviewing shipments, and checking store activities for compensation. This was later capped at 10 minutes per week. For workers with multiple stores and various activities, this can be difficult to adhere to. Management is great but they are stretched way too thin. All the good ones leave due to excessive workloads.
