The Thrill Is Gone - Business Office Manager American Senior Communities Employee Review

Pros

Opportunity to grow, flexible schedule, quarterly bonus, Christmas bonus, PTO accrues rapidly

Cons

Micro-managing, constant emails, monthly calendars with daily to do list leaves no room for individual thoughts, nor does it take into account day to day interactions within the buildings. Consultants are rude and not helpful. I work hard at my job because I love what I do. I feel that it is not only my job to collect money for ASC, but also to help residents. This may include helping them apply for social security disability, which, by the way is very time consuming and requires patience when your working with someone who may have some cognitive defects, making numerous calls to assist in getting documents for a Medicaid application, or going downtown to hunt down records. By restricting everyone to a daily to do list, it causes undue stress on Office Managers. I know what I need to do and don't appreciate being harassed when things aren't done according to their time. I take pride in my job and that includes collecting money and billing promptly but that is not the only aspect to my job.

Pros

The coworkers are amazing and make the work environment enjoyable. The residents are wonderful to work with and are one of the best parts of the job. Management does a great job planning fun parties and activities, and there is usually a lot of staff involvement, which helps create a positive and engaging atmosphere.

Cons

Management can be somewhat inconsistent. Employees are often recognized for their work, but there are times when micromanagement creates unnecessary stress. Pay is below what many similar positions offer, and communication between management and staff could be improved. Greater consistency and clearer communication would help employee morale and retention.
