Pros
I’ve never worked at an organization that has so many people who are truly here for our mission — and that includes the clinicians in the clinics and my higher-ups. Something I’ve learned in my time here is that our organization is very complex, and that complexity requires us to work together, improve our systems and keep improving…all so we can help improve health for the people we serve. I think that the organization has done a solid job of balancing our commitment to “doing” with our commitment to building the infrastructure we need to do things well. I was also inspired by our recent staff survey that showed the vast majority of us feeling this way. I’m reading some of the other posts, and feel the need to counter with some actual information to help paint a more accurate picture. Of a survey that was put out to 750 of us…96% of us said that we’re proud to work at Americares. 97% feel that our work furthers the organization. 91% of us enjoy our daily work. 89% believe the leadership team is building a strong future for Americares. And 87% feel we are building an inclusive environment for all staff. (Management, I’m sorry if this was meant for staff only—but it’s amazing, and something to celebrate!)
Cons
In our efforts to balance the “doing” and the “building,” it can be hard to get everyone on board with decisions to prioritize. But even when I don’t have a project funded or an idea implemented, I still feel I was heard and respected.
