Pros

Honestly there are not many pros about this company anymore. When I first started the pay was okay and the company provided great benefits and paid time off. Other than that over the years things are getting worse by the day with no improvement in sight. I used to love my job and be excited to come to work to see my coworkers and help people during times of need. Now everyday I dread going to work.

Cons

Amica tells their employees that they want our opinion and that they want us to feel heard, but when we do voice our opinion and provide feedback on what can be done to improve the workplace for the nothing is done to change the outdated ways of how the company is run. Pay is extremely low compared to other insurance companies. And employees are not compensated for the disaster of a company they are working extremely hard for. The company has lost a large number of employees in a short time period. The management and upper higher management that have the ability to make a difference have done nothing to try and keep the employees. Amica is losing all of the employees that are amazing at their job and act as though they are replaceable. The fact of the matter is that the upper management doesn't recognize that they are losing valuable employees that made Amica a great company. Now that these employees are gone, the employees that are left are over worked, under paid, and under appreciated for what they are being put through. This is causing the employees Amica has left to stop caring about their job and want to give up. The company is unwilling to change their old school ways of doing business. Covid caused Amica to have to send their employees home to work for over a year. While at home all of the claims representatives and sales representative stepped up to the plate and worked as hard as possible to make sure they continued performing at 100% All of the employees proved that working from home is possible and the numbers showed that working from home was better for the company and their employees. Customer surveys were higher than ever and productivity increased. This being said, Amica refuses to allow their employees to stay working from home which has caused many employees to quit, retire, and company morale is at an all time low. No matter how many times employees reach out to their immediate supervisors requesting permanent work from home positions and no matter how hard they work to prove that employees can make working from home an asset, the company refuses to allow permanent work from home positions. It is getting so bad that every Amica employee that is left is talking about finding a new job because they can't stand working for a company that will not take the advice from the people on the front line doing the day to day hard work. Claims volume is high because there are less claims reps taking claims. Call volume is higher than ever because of the lack of employees and many employees have complained that they are not making enough money for what they put up with on a day to day basis. Employees aren't able to get caught up and are constantly behind causing the Amica customers to be upset and constantly complain about the service they are provided. Amica is "known for the best customer service" but with how the company is going, it is impossible to provide the level of customer service that Amica expects them to provide. Thks leaves employees feeling defeated after every shift and leaves the customers unhappy with their insurance especially because Amica is more expensive than any other insurance carrier. Something needs to change, but the upper management refuses to admit there is an issue and refuse to listen to the employees that work hard to try and keep going despite being miserable at work. Amica refuses to make changes to the company thay would keep the employees they have left with them and keep their customers willing to pay high premiums for the service they expect. The company doesn't care about the mental health of their employees and when someone mentions that they are struggling mentally they are told maybe it is time to part ways rather than coming up with a plan to help their employees overcome the tough times. Employees of 20 plus years have left because they are not longer happy with the company and would rather retire than put up with the mental stress the job is causing them.

Pros

Community, career development, and growth opportunities are just a few of the things that make this a great place to work. The environment is both fun and challenging, creating space for individuals and teams to stay engaged while continuing to grow. Choosing Amica as my employer was one of the best decisions I’ve made. There is a genuine level of care for employees that shows up not only in day-to-day support but also in a strong commitment to work-life balance. Leadership encourages development, recognizes contributions, and fosters an environment where people feel valued. The benefits are excellent, and overall, it’s an organization where you can build a meaningful and lasting career.

Cons

I don't have any cons to mention.

Pros

Nearly all remote work for most (some are 100% remote). Some still hybrid if you are unfortunate to live close to a branch. They try to keep work life balance there for you. Most management (some do not) actually care for you personally. For the industry, caseloads are manageable (still tough job).

Cons

They are slowly becoming more and more controlling in how you work. The new phone system that is coming in (Genesis) is "big brother" listening in and monitoring your day-to-day activities to make sure you are in fact working. NOT A GOOD FEELING! It started with front line staff and now they seem to be rolling it out to their tenured adjuster staff. They should let the fact that we are settling claims show for itself. They say it is "training." I say it is intrusive and fosters a feeling of mistrust. Can't wait to retire! I love what I do, but don't like the trend I am seeing and feeling.
