Pros

Lots of great product talent and a leadership that is trying to turn the company around

Cons

Not the most healthy environment as the business wasn’t doing great. There were many reasons for this. One of which was the entrenched, revenue first mindset, coupled with ann overblown number of business strategists. It’s old-school and users last approach was preventing the company from becoming a competitive product. However, it did not seem that the company could operate otherwise because this model was all it knew.

Thank you for sharing your feedback -- one of our consistent mantras to the team is "Feedback is a gift!" We are glad to hear that you felt like Angi has strong product talent and a leadership team working hard to improve the product every day. While we are grateful for the feedback and the review -- I'd like to share evidence relating to the comments about a "revenue first mindset" and a "users last" approach. In early 2023, Angi reoriented its mission around growing 'Jobs done well' -- the magic moment for both our homeowners and our pros where they derive real value from our platform. Since that change, we've worked hard to reorient our roadmap, success metrics, and strategy around this north star -- using customer feedback, user research, and tons of experimentation to drive success on both sides of our marketplace while improving profitability. Homeowner NPS and pro retention rates are up significantly over this time frame, and our investment in features like messaging, improved quality standards, and fraud detection are proof of a focus not on revenue, but on helping customers get jobs done well. In fact, we've taken many steps to deliberately reduce lower quality revenue on the platform. I encourage anyone to read our quarterly shareholder letters, which have talked at length about these changes and the focus on building an enduring and differentiated experience for customers. Thanks again for the review, and we wish you the very best of luck in your next adventure. Joe Puccio , SVP of Product

Pros

The culture is generally positive, and leadership is accessible. Management is willing to meet with employees and listen to concerns. There are talented people throughout the organization, and the work can be rewarding if you enjoy sales and helping businesses grow.

Cons

The biggest challenge is the compensation structure. The company promotes uncapped commissions, but many employees feel earnings are effectively controlled through continually increasing quotas and changing performance targets. Revenue and nominal goals are adjusted so frequently that it can feel like the finish line is always moving. What's particularly frustrating is that the majority of the sales team often struggles to reach 100% of quota, yet goals continue to rise. This creates the perception that compensation expense is being managed through quota increases rather than by allowing top performers to fully benefit from the revenue they generate. Over time, this can discourage high achievers. Employees who consistently perform well are often expected to deliver significantly more results each year just to maintain the same level of compensation. When exceptional performance is met with ever-increasing targets instead of proportionally increasing rewards, motivation suffers.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are glad to hear that you find management accessible and enjoy working alongside the talented individuals across our team. We also hear your concerns regarding our compensation structure and quota adjustments. Our goal is always to balance company growth with fair, motivating, and rewarding compensation for our sales team. Your point about the importance of consistency and transparency in goal-setting is well-taken. Thank you again for helping us identify areas where we can improve.
