Pros
Absolutely no experience or previous pension/retirement knowledge necessary. Amazing team members, learner-friendly environment that welcomes proactive newcomers, and not your typical actuarial position where you sit at your desk and crunch numbers. As pension actuaries we are also consultants at Aon and we get lots of face-time and interaction with clients.
Cons
Because it's a consultant position, the hours can be long an irregular. You work quite a lot for an ok salary (not horrible, but not amazing). You do learn a lot and it's a great place to start your actuarial career, but unless you just fall in love with pension, it may not be where you stay your entire career. Furthermore, pension plans are dying out quickly and in 50 or so years, we may not even need people to value pension plans.
