Pros
Apolis was the best experience I had with any IT Consulting and Staffing Firm or contracting agency. I can not say enough great things about everyone I worked with and how thorough the orientation was. The onboarding was seamless and the background check was prompt. Every payment and reimbursement was on time and they are very transparent. This is a place where you can develop genuine relationships that carry on. Everything is prompt and seamless. The core values of connection, pragmatic optimism, loyalty, human power, and mastery are definitely something you should make a self-assessment of yourself to see if it matches your behaviors and attitudes. The trust they have established with some of the most successful companies with the most valued and trust brands is truly something astounding. It is impressive. Apolis has high standards and you are representing a firm that is a highly regarded 360 degree IT consultancy and they strive to maintain excellence and you should keep this image in mind, and if you take an empathic perspective toward the firm along with the portfolio of clients with whom they have established trusting working relationships... I think you will feel or should feel a healthy sense of pressure and duty to strive for excellence. I do not believe a person with a sense of entitlement or pessimistic attitude should consider a firm that has very talented and insightful people across so many disciplines who understand the impacts of technology but also the dynamics of business and are seasoned with a strong track record. They focus on talent and merit and have been around and understand all of the politics of business relationships. So if you are a competency- focused individual it is ideal. You should be confident in your abilities. I think it's great to be confident, chill, and agreeable but if you want to say you are a master of something, my role was integrated with technology but based on much more of a prerequisite of advanced exposure to complex tax concepts and an advanced capital markets understanding to have an ability to gain intuition in a demanding role. This includes compliance, codifications, and extensive knowledge of entity organization and structure and tax incidence as it relates to specific entities in specific industries with a lots of models and methods to establish sourcing and allocations or apportionments or both for treatment, classification, and even corporate transactions and concepts of ASC 740. I had modules and used as much of my time to study and learn whatever I was lacking in and would say to choose Apolis if you are someone who wants to be a master and values work ethic. I personally do not think it is about being the best but I take on the mindset of maybe I can maybe I can't but I am going to try. A lot of you are likely very skilled and should take my effort here, after work, as an indication of why you should use your energy and drive to be somewhere that encourages it and you can keep your head down and work. And when you're not you're not. A beautiful thing. This is a firm for people who want to be exposed to top talent and build meaningful relationships and be an engineer of innovative solutions for tomorrow's problems. So, I would encourage you to put the work in and have a positive attitude and capacity for connection. I am highly sensitive, have worked at some of the top firms and had pinnacle accounting experience in content and "status" before I graduated and really it means nothing if you do not have a depth of experience where you can clearly articulate your understanding and capability confidently. Apolis tells you how it is and gives you paperwork which is under 30 pages, which is mostly boiler plate information, is organized by section, and is all straightforward with a a reasonableness section. Which is not typical to any of my engagements. It is all straightforward and quick to onboard. Some firms vary to such a degree the onboarding cannot be completed in time for compliance with working for one of their clients or they select excessive back up candidates or play games with the rate of completion between three contractors a few weeks in and cut the two that are not going to bring the quick buck. You can read so much out there. There is so much to read. Or percentage service fees from firms that are not involved in any part of the engagement except onboarding, payroll, and expense reimbursement. But you may never talk to an actual person. And many offer no benefit opportunities or health insurance or anything. I would definitely not recommend, for anyone's sake, someone to be here or with almost any one of their clients, if you have a sense of entitlement or do not have a rock solid work ethic. Everyone responds almost immediately to any inquiry - and if they do not know they will respond to let you know they will find out. They work very hard to secure your contract and I would recommend them above anyone else. I want to thank everyone I can think of and that I spoke with because really I think too often that is overlooked. Special thanks to, but not limited to, Harshit, Inderjeet, Ashoo, Gokulnath, Jyoti, Anoop, Anshika, Karvendahn, and Prabhakar If your heart and your mind shine and shine bright you should try your best and if you truly shine be fine no matter what, if you are not selected and someone else is - maybe the next time or keep trying and just go about it working hard. Shine and use your energies wisely and constructively and we all have hard times and things to do and family and places to be. So keep a good perspective and and be optimistic and take action!
Cons
It is rare to come across a firm like Apolis. I really have none from my experience - only that I wish I was there longer and hope to return!! I'll just reiterate since I think I am more likely to read cons and I will tell you to make sure you understand what your retirement plan is and hopefully you keep it consolidated. And it is very easy to do a rollover on a distribution when you move it directly or if you take it as a code 1 early distribution you can still be sure the amount is funded within the specified timeframe. So really it should not matter anyhow but that is a personal, individual-specific item. If you do not understand retirement plans or qualified versus non qualified plans and have a qualified plan such as a ROTH IRA and need to convert it it is very easy when you do your taxes. A simple rollover. Depending on your income you may need a back door ROTH but if you manage your finances or have a retirement account just opt out. I would recommend you not participate if you do not understand but have been happy with the appreciation of the small amount I did do. I will reiterate that they have particular core values and are a 360 degree IT consultancy with a portfolio of clients that speak volumes to their brand and that you should have high expectations for yourself. Connection, pragmatic optimism, loyalty, human power, and mastery - think about that and also I would not encourage a lazy or better said undriven person - which can happen to anyone at a time or have personal struggles - or who does not take self responsibility. Everyone is smart and I think they earned my trust and respect over time so I would say you should be focused on your project and readiness and be prepared. Read your responsibilities and job details and paperwork and expectations and if that is too much I think it may be a bad time. Everyone there works really hard and is super, amazingly prompt and I think it is annoying if you are constantly unavailable or not able to mirror their responsiveness. Again, that is a HUGE pro in such a field. And very rare. Essentially, know yourself, and put it in the work and do not take yourself too seriously. Give it all you have and look to the future and next skill. I think it is best to be overprepared and admire many of your core competencies' and all I can say is many of them I have been studying and I am coming after it so you can walk and that is fine by me. So I hope that gives you a boost and I find it much easier to come from my background and integrate into the technologist field but the best firms/clients want people who can express their competence and are positive to be around or in contact with and are able to think about solutions and problem solving creatively. You should try to be a creative problem solver who feels a spark to innovate - even a small procedure or the tiniest thing. Apply yourself and if you can't now maybe you will be able to later. You should not treat people poorly or be overly trusting but an adult and most conversations are straightforward so I do not think you should take anything personally , good or bad and just genuinely connect or if not just be genuine to whatever place you're at and be transparent and honest with yourself. Again, I think everyone at this firm is very smart and also people who work with people a lot can feel people's true vibes so they work with you often to submit you for the role and just be positive and no one is perfect. Be honest with yourself and ask if you're an entitled person or trying to do as little work as possible or maybe you are preoccupied more with your ego than competence - I think in this case there are places you can go to float or slide but I think you'd be slipping away during an era of innovation, change, and a transformative time. You should be high energy and actively working on your competencies' related to the future of your career and integrating new technologies if you are not an absolute master who keeps learning. You need to have the right skillset while being realistic and have an action plan on how you will advance exposure and familiarity level skills to fully proficient and advanced.
