Pros

nice and smart coworkers, nice office all of my managers were nice

Cons

worst immigration policy someone posted a long post on the blind(go search it yourself to see how the top company in DC is treating their foreign employee) and I can't agree more. Don't join if you are not a US citizen or a permanent resident. They have the worst immigration policy. Other than asking you to pay all the fees if you leave within 3 years(not sure if it's still 3 years). The main problem is they are not willing to start the process even you work there for a while. So they just keep delaying the process(it was they will start the GC process if you join for 1 year, then change it to 2 years, I guess now it's you have to be a senior or some BS). Guess why? Because they know that you can't go anywhere else easily if your H1B is expiring soon or you are still in OPT. You are trapped. HR doesn't know anything so they just trust the lawyer. And the lawyer thinks she knows everything but she is just another Jon Snow(Trust me, all of my ex-colleagues that deal with her have the same opinions). They might have a good starting salary, but honestly, most of the companies in this area that are willing to sponsor employee GCs have a much better immigration policy than Appian. Just avoid at all costs.

Appian Response

At Appian, we follow the same standard practice of supporting non-US citizen employees as any employer. We are sorry to hear of your reaction, and recognize the process can be long and arduous. However, we do everything we can to keep our team members informed throughout the very complex process.
