Good for a first job, and while you're in school, but don't stay longer than you have to. - Server Applebee's Employee Review

Pros

I worked with a great team, and made friends fairly quickly. It is a good place to work if you want a fast paced environment and excel at multi-tasking. You get cash after each shift from tips, and a paycheck every two weeks from hourly pay. Management was open to switching jobs between hostess to server to bartender. Discount off food is a set dollar amount instead of a percentage, making it possible to not have to pay for a small meal at the end of a shift. Management was willing to help and do whatever it took to make every shift smooth.

Cons

They are disorganized. Management talks about cutting labor down, then they overstaff the front of the house. There is favoritism in front of house seniority. If someone has worked there for 2 years and does not do anything, they will still get more hours than the person who has only worked for 6 months but does all the work. There is a constant struggle between servers and hosts because of job responsibilities not being clearly defined. It is on the lower end of restaurants, and is not a respectable place to work. It can take a long time to check out, because the managers are trying to save the restaurant from falling apart.

Pros

Meeting great staff FOH and BOH

Cons

No monthly salary as discussed during orientation. Bonuses totaled around 700 for year 2024. I was basically an overpaid line cook. No exaggeration. Weekly inventory and truck orders was all there was to do for managers. The rest of the day consisted of being a prep as the open mgr(we literally didn’t have a prep), hosting, bagging orders, and being the best line could you could ever want to be. Get comfortable on broil!
