Pros

Have served in the Army National Guard for more than 24 years. The National Guard is a hidden gem with opportunities in both personal and leader development. Pay on the full time is pretty good and average with most operations position industries. There are amazing bonuses, 100% College Free Tuition and Fee waiver. Health benefits are similar to the national average and dental is available with Delta dental. Part time service is just that, it is part time and not meant to pay all the bills. However, all the benefits are there for either full time or part time. The biggest benefit besides serving your country, is the many diverse opportunities to get training that will build depth to any resume. Guess what, it is all 100% free!! Yes, you are in the military and yes you could get deployed, but nothing in this world is 100% free. There are over 100 different primary and additional duty positions that build you as a professional. Take a look and see if it is for you. If I had to do it again, I would without question.

Cons

Training and deployments may take you away from family and friends, or miss events that conflict with military duty.
