Pros

Good pay, we receive a set amount for each rank. I am an E-5(SGT) which with all pay and allowances total $3696 per month before taxes. We also receive a pay rais once per year across the board. The benefits are excellent, my family and have full medical, dental, and vision. I pay $29 per month for this coverage. I have no copays for any services to include prescriptions. Our retirement is pretty good also, after 20 years of service I will receive 50% of my base pay for the highest rank I held. I will also be able to draw retiement immediately, rather than waiting til I am 65. We also have a retirement invest plan also, called the TSP(thrift savings plan) where my contributions are diversified into stocks varying from low to high risk at my choosing.

Cons

Possibility of having to be away from my family for extended periods. This has only happend a few times through my 9 years of service.

High pressure mission and quota environment Long hours, especially at the end of the month or FY Constant phone calls, texts, and follow-ups after hours Rejection and ghosting happen constantly Can be mentally exhausting and stressful Balancing command expectations with applicant realities is tough Public perception of recruiters can sometimes be negative Difficult to fully disconnect during leave or weekends Heavy admin work and paperwork requirements Burnout is common if leadership/support is weak
