Pros

Low turnover. A lot of long-term staffs, so people like to work for the company. Excellent support from the management team on Work-Life balance. Easy commute to multiple offices. Friendly, respectful and stimulating work environment Get-together lunches and after hour social events are encourage. Senior staffs are encourage to use laptop and are given one if requested. Central Service (IT, Finance, HR, Facilities) staffs are friendly and have good respond time. HR representatives are knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Excellent time-off benefits. Encourages staffs to stay safe and healthy, through seminars, gym memberships and sporting events.

Cons

Work may requires long hours and work weekends commitment. May works on multiple projects with similar deadlines. Deadlines are frequent and sometimes unrealistic. Very little downtime between projects (you will be starting on another project before you even finish your current one). Travel may be required, where you will be away from home for a few days. Not many people can say they have time to go on vacation. Can easily burn out as a junior engineering staff. A lot of long-term staffs, so promotions and moving up to management level is very hard for newer staffs. Staff will be volunteered by managers for tasks but do not communicate the benefits to picking up the tasks.

Pros

Working at Arup was a great experience, surrounded by smart, motivated, and mission-driven peers.

Cons

This may have since improved, but at least previously, the America's region felt rather second-class compared to UK. Most/all senior leadership, even in the US, was British.

Pros

Great company with lots of good benefits, interesting large scale projects, and a fantastic team of people to work with.

Cons

Be prepared to work long hours, overnights and weekends at times. At the end of the day, it is a consulting firm so the clients needs will always come first over employee health and wellbeing.
