Pros
You definitely are able to obtain immediate experience dealing with crisis intervention. I loved working with children in placement. My co-workers were of great support during difficult times. It is a great start to your career, just move on after you gain experience.
Cons
Salary and retirement do not compare with outside agencies for line staff. Management is over paid and not in touch with the employees they supervise. Very little training is given to employees. Too many hours for very little pay; expect to work hours in excess of 40 on a regular basis. Between crisis interventions on your caseload and your on-call duties, it leaves little opportunity to actually have a life outside of work.
