Pros
The only thing that was good about this job was that it was fairly close to where I live.
Cons
There has been more than 250% turnover of Infection Preventionists at Aspirus Wausau location (the main location fir the Aspirus system) in the past 3 years. It’s literally a revolving door… some people have tried really hard to make it work and others realized right away how bad it was and left abruptly. But no one stays, not even the highly paid contract IPs they finally resorted to bringing in. There is a serious leadership issue in this specific department unlike anything I’ve ever seen. As an educated, experienced professional adult, I felt I was treated with more respect during my fist job at Burger King at age 16 than I was at Aspirus. Another issue is that employees, whether salaried or hourly, can only take PTO in 8-hour blocks. So if you have a dentist appt that takes an hour and a half, you’ll have to use an entire days worth of PTO to go to it. In general, Aspirus’s policies seem designed to make life difficult for their employees and benefit only the corporation's bottom line. Then they try to boost morale with things like “wear a blue shirt day" or whatever, which is insulting at best. The health insurance is terrible… most health insurance policies barely cover anything these days, but Aspirus has one of the most expensive options i've ever seen with very little provided in exchange for sky-high premiums, except of course you're required to see Aspirus providers so again, it benefits the corporation rather than the employee. The worst job I've ever had. Take my advice and run from this job listing.
