Pros

Nothing I can think of.

Cons

My experience with this company was extremely disappointing. While it may appear promising externally, the internal environment tells a very different story. The culture is highly restrictive and, at times, uncomfortable. There is a strong tendency toward micromanagement, with close monitoring of basic aspects like arrival and departure times. Flexibility is minimal—remote work is discouraged, and there is noticeable pressure to be physically present in the office regardless of circumstances. Leadership often lacks clarity and direction, yet expectations remain high without adequate support. Decision-making is centralized, and alternative ideas are not always welcomed if they don’t align with management’s views. This creates an environment where autonomy is limited and innovation is stifled. There is also a significant level of internal politics, which can make collaboration challenging. In my experience, success seemed to depend more on navigating these dynamics than on actual performance or contributions. While this may not be everyone’s experience, for me it was not the right fit, and I would advise others to carefully evaluate whether the work environment aligns with their expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. As a company operating in a fast-paced and complex environment, we recognize the importance of providing clarity, support, and space for teams to do their best work, and we are continuously working to improve in these areas. Our employee population has doubled in size in the last 6-7 months, putting pressure on our ability to do this as well as we would like, but we are focused on continuing to improve as we scale. We are clear with everyone prior to joining that given the complicated nature of the cross-functional work across several engineering disciplines that we are best served by working alongside one another in person every day. This approach has served us well from the beginning of the company and we have not wavered from that. We appreciate you sharing your perspective and wish you the best in your next chapter.

Pros

First-principles thinking is the default — you'll be pushed to understand why, not just what Genuinely meritocratic; what you deliver matters more than tenure or title The problem sits at the intersection of advanced manufacturing and AI — it's technically as hard as it gets Surrounded by exceptionally high-caliber people every day; the talent bar is real The work matters — you're not optimizing a feed algorithm, you're building something with physical consequence

Cons

Ambiguity is real — no playbook, high tolerance required Expectations are high and the pace is demanding; not for everyone Still building the internal infrastructure needed to scale

Pros

They have many talented employees and have interesting projects to work on and solve on a daily basis.

Cons

The company operates very much like an early-stage startup — fast-moving, deadline-driven, and constantly under pressure. While speed can be energizing, the combination of aggressive timelines and tight deadlines often translates into extremely long work hours. Many of the project timelines felt unrealistic from the start, which created a cycle of urgency rather than sustainable execution. What concerned me most before I decided to leave was the pattern I observed within the engineering team. The engineers who were doing the majority of the heavy lifting gradually left, largely due to leadership’s tendency to overpromise, coupled with a lack of appreciation and recognition for the work being done. In addition, the company’s capital burn rate appeared concerning, adding another layer of uncertainty. While the company may ultimately succeed, from my perspective at the time, the risks seemed to outweigh the foundation in place.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re glad you found the work engaging and the team talented — that’s something we care deeply about. As a fast-growing company, we are continually trying to balance the intensity and urgency that comes with bringing a new disruptive technology into the world while also scaling into a more sustainable pace of execution. Like the many successful startups before us, it is hard to find that perfect equilibrium. We will continue to stretch to achieve more than we thought was possible. We are incredibly proud of and humbled by the contributions of our engineers and all Atomizers have been essential to our success to date and we are continuing to invest in how we better support, develop, and recognize our managers and our team. Creating a respectful and inclusive culture is a top priority for us. We will continue to foster an environment where ideas can be challenged constructively while maintaining trust and mutual respect. There is more work to do, including broadening our representation, and we are excited about the company and culture we have built so far. We appreciate your perspective and wish you the best in your next chapter.
