Pros
The group in which I worked ( Technology and Competence group which was more of an internal R&D ) was a relatively small one compared to other Energy or Industrial depts. But I must say, lot of software development work happened in our group and there was lot of freedom to learn and explore new things, come up with new ideas. These ideas could also be filed for patents or copyrights. There was scope for research. The people in the group were also very friendly and encouraging.
Cons
You have to be more focused towards your goal as in what exactly you would like to work on. Pay is comparatively less.
