Pros
Generally very fun atmosphere. You will make great friends. Free tickets to local events/concerts are pretty easy to come by. Management plays favorites on this stuff for sure, so make sure you are on everyone’s good side! Work can be very satisfying. Seeing a project, show, concert come to live with your help is genuinely rewarding. Being behind the scenes is great fun. This is a decent “stepping stone” employer. You will wear a lot of hats and do a lot of things. There will be lots of “fires” that you will put out. You WILL get better at your job by doing this.
Cons
Pay is almost always below market rate. You will not get rich working here. Some of your friends (or you) will eventually get laid off. That’s just the reality of working in this business. Always has been. If you are great at what you do, you can either prevent this or transfer to a new role internally. As mentioned above, management plays “favorites”. This isn’t a foreign concept to any employer really. If you want to be successful, do your job well and make sure management knows you work hard and truly care about the brands. This place will work you to the bone. Expect to work hard and do a few things you don’t want to do. They are publicly traded and openly make decisions that benefit shareholders and not employees. Its very obvious.
