Pros

Free beer & lunch some days!

Cons

Once you start, they half way train you and then leave you to depend on other reps for help. The managers are always on vacations or in meetings, so no one will help you when you're new. Our manager use to ask us to write good reviews about the company because the real and honest reviews were so terrible. Leadership constantly changes comp plans, so our pay was never really too clear. They promise you one thing when you accept the job , like competitive pay and career growth but instead they just keep changing your pay while expecting you to remain highly adaptable and forces you to follow the career path that they have made for you disregarding your background. This company doesn't value their employees, only themselves and their wallets. They prefer to hire externally before looking within their own department for promotions. After being with this company, It appears that they have truly lost the very culture that they once prided themselves on. It's very much a "boys club" or "frat boy" environment and the managers show LOTS of favoritism.

Pros

Is Avalara a great place to work? It depends on the team you are on. Pros: - I love my team. I have great co-workers. I feel like leadership to the VP level understands the value we bring and advocates for our work throughout the company - I like being able to go into the office and see people and bounce ideas around - My manager is always pushing me to learn new things and get out of my comfort zone - We just got a new CEO and I am super excited about him and his vision. Everyone who has actually been in meetings with him is excited too.

Cons

It depends on the team you are on. Cons: - Some teams are not as curious/helpful as others. I often have to check and recheck the work they do, after I have chased them multiple times to even complete the work - The layoff fear is real, the idea that at any point your position could be eliminated because they want to keep that revenue per headcount KPI down is everywhere
