In typical startup form, there was no thought to creating a profitable business. Everything was focused on growth at all costs. Then when we needed to become profitable it was clear how the Co-Founders and other execs had no clue how to create a profitable business that still had a high-performing culture. Layoffs have occurred almost constantly for over a year and the amazing culture turned sour. Leaders who failed were rewarded while ones who were making positive change were let go.
