Pros

Flexible schedules, weekly pay, plenty of overtime, full time, part time, and PRN options to work, electronic charting, some friendly staff

Cons

The company only cares about having a warm body in homes they have no concern for the nurses. Here’s some examples: 1. My first week working for the company I worked a 6a-6p. A scheduler called me and asked me to work a 7p-7a. That was my first experience with the lack of concern they have for nurses. I was basically asked to work a 24hour shift. 2. I’ve been working with the company for 7 months. I was told I would receive Trach, and Vent training. Everyone gets GB training to start. After 7months and asking many times I still haven’t gotten any additional training. Currently, I work M-F 9hour shifts which is great, but I’ve asked several times for a different patient and different work schedule (I want to work 12hr shifts). Each time I brought this up the schedulers seemed to panic and told me I couldn’t get a new patient. I have a wonderful patient, but the family is difficult to work with I’ve finally realized that my career is being put on hold because they don’t want to go through the trouble of putting someone else here. They have a difficult time placing nurses with this family. So the easy thing to do is hold me here despite the fact that career wise I’m not growing 3. My daughter had the flu this past year. I was called to pick her up during the day. They were nice and I was able to leave to pick her up from school. Once I found out she had the flu I called to let them know I wouldn’t be returning to work the rest of the week since she wouldn’t be able to go to school. The response I got was “Are you sure u can’t just take her to school.” I had to break it down that if I sent my daughter to school, I would get a call a few hours later to pick her up. Why would I take that route? Pay is low and does not increase with experience. There are no pay increases to look forward to. A nurse that has 5years of experience will get the same pay as a new grad nurse. No Pto, vacation, benefits. When I called to notify that I would be working PRN from now on (and gave a 2 week notice for this) (last week) they were mad and told me I’m “lucky to have this position and work hours”. I tied to explain to them that this is about career growth and I haven’t be able to do that. They were upset and only concerned about the fact that they would have to struggle to find a different nurse to place with this difficult family. I’ll end it here, but I could say so much more.
