Pros
* A large, dedicated user base that will keep the company alive in one form or another. * Many talented and passionate employees. * Excellent technology. * Good pay.
Cons
* No job security (frequent layoffs). Many talented employees have left the company or have been terminated, and are now working for competitors. * Massive outsourcing of engineering. * A seemingly constant stream of changes in process and organizational structure. A feeling that management is grasping at straws. * A variety of complicated, poorly functioning tools and processes that waste massive amounts of time and kill productivity. * There is a chain of "whipping boy middle-managers" that drive people via aggression and/or intimidation, carry a "my way or the highway" attitude, and fail to listen to employees. They create roadblocks, and appear to be exercising some sort of bizarre formula that is wholly separated from reality.
