Pros

Some colleagues were kind, collaborative, and tried their best to create a supportive work environment. The work itself was meaningful in theory, with the potential to make a difference in healthcare access and equity. If you're lucky, you may have pockets of time where leadership leaves you alone to do your work.

Cons

Leadership is disorganized, reactive, and often hostile creating a culture of fear, blame, and micromanagement. Mental health is not just overlooked; it's actively disregarded. Speaking up about burnout, stress, or boundaries can put a target on your back. The "support" system is a patchwork of empty words and initiatives that sound good but aren't backed by action. Workload expectations are unrealistic, and "urgent" last-minute requests are the norm, not the exception. Documentation and processes are chaotic, and employees are often left to fend for themselves. If you’re a person who values collaboration, transparency, and trust, this environment will crush your spirit. Upper management has a history of retaliating against employees who advocate for themselves.

Thank you for your honest and transparent feedback. It’s reassuring to know that, during your time at Avita, you found a shared commitment to compassionately caring for others, both among your coworkers and in relation to Avita’s mission to remove health access barriers for underserved patients. However, it concerns us deeply that you describe a work environment that negatively impacted your mental well-being. Since you posted anonymously regarding your department or team location, it’s difficult to fully understand the specific scope of the challenges you were facing. However, we hear you when you say that a focus on metrics took a toll on your work-life balance. Rest assured that this review will be evaluated by both our HR team and other organizational leaders. We wish you all the best. Carrie Schwemm Chief Human Resources Officer

Pros

Flexibility and long lasting friendships in the community.

Cons

There are so many cons that I will just highlight a few. 1. Management pretends to care about the community but really only cares about the investment firm - which is known by everyone but only discussed at the senior leadership level 2. No established review or promotion strategy. Promotions are subjective and not based on company or individualized goals - titles mean absolutely nothing because promotions and titles are blindly assigned - with no organized process or explanation. 3. Company”goals” do not focus on anything internal and only focus on external factors to check a box - goals are not about employees, their growth, professional development or overall performance improvement but instead focus on what has already been done and not what needs to improve 4. Toxicity runs most departments and escalation procedures are laughable. Management has the ability to blame without merit and HR turns a blind eye. 5. Absolutely no strategy for growth, marketing or sales… which makes sense because a strategy would hold individuals responsible and that’s not how ACS operates. 6. Benefits are absolutely atrocious.
