Pros

The mission of Awana is wonderful: to reach kids and youth with the gospel and to train them spiritually through biblical truth. There are a lot of talented, committed employees in the organization.

Cons

Executive leadership is out of touch with the rest of the organization. Awana consistently scored near the bottom of the annual Best Christian Workplace Survey and was labeled a toxic organization for employees. Executives forced sweeping organization-wide changes on departments every two or three years, which cost the ministry critical dollars and time and further demoralized its staff. Leadership's poor communication skills, lack of business acumen and callousness toward employees' needs has made Awana an unattractive place to work, which is too bad, because the organization's mission and vision are exciting and fulfilling.

Pros

I can't say enough good things about working at Awana. The staff are incredibly friendly, relational, and delightful to work with. The leadership team has a compelling vision for the future of the organization and commitment to the mission of child discipleship. The reach of the organization has grown exponentially in recent years and has no sign of slowing down. God is at work in and through Awana. I hope you can join the team and contribute to this remarkable mission and team.

Cons

I cannot think of any cons to working at Awana. The culture is highly positive and the team is remarkable!

Pros

I had a great experience working there. Despite being a big company there were lots of ways to stay connected to leadership.

Cons

Remote first work isn’t for everyone!
