Cons
Too much knowledge is stored within a handful of critical employees. While those few are glad to provide assistance when asked, most initial efforts are hampered by a lack of distributed information (in the form of working procedures). Management will often side with customer over their own employee to share frustration with the customer over an equipment issue, rather than aid the employee with requested assistance to actually solve the problem. Timetables for maintenence are established not by the length of time the maintenance requires but by the shortened time pressures of production, such that every job is behind schedule immediately. No upward mobility. As field service, you're always treated as the holdup and never as the savior. Repetitive issues being bandaided leads to minimal job satisfaction.
