Pros
Money was very good and some of the people I met were top professionals. As a manager, I was allowed to make a lot of my own decisions like hiring people I thought had great potential and leading global projects I thought would make a difference.
Cons
Unfortunately, all of that was not enough to avoid a cold fact: even then, the Company is in the final / exit years of Bain and Golden Gate. Very much like with other companies Bain acquired, as profits didn't rise all the way up they decided they would cut expenses...thus de-investing in key areas. There's just no innovation as much as there is no focus on making BMC a great Company. Nothing really changed since I joined the Company and through my stay. Most good professionals left actually in an 18 month period, forcing BMC to hire as fast as they could. I've never seen attrition that bad. As with most tech companies, the minute margins go down they let people go. Saw it way too many times.
