Pros

Benefits are decent, but they used to be excellent

Cons

Very little time off, no assigned days of for ten years plus. On call 24/7. You WILL work every holiday, and as a conductor, no time and a half. If you take off two days a month, you will run out of attendance points in 14 months, which you will then be subject to discipline, and eventually termination. During the planned-demic, they reduced wages, so as everyone else is receiving more pay, railroaders are making less, and working more.

Pros

Great people and strong coworkers across the organization. The company offers competitive pay, strong benefits, and good overall stability. There are many experienced employees who care about the work and are willing to help others succeed.

Cons

The organization can be very hierarchical, which sometimes makes it difficult to drive change or move quickly. Decisions often require multiple layers of approval, so it can take longer than expected to finalize direction or make progress. There is also limited flexibility compared to what many other companies offer, especially when it comes to working arrangements.
