Pros
The work you do supports critical rail and supply infrastructure. BNSF is the 2nd largest railway in the U.S. and its effective and safe operation is critical to the U.S. and everyday citizens. Bonuses typically occur for good employees. The environment is hard but the work is important and impactful.
Cons
The company is currently undergoing massive changes in how they operate and layoffs have occurred across multiple departments both at the HQ and in the field, affecting contract, union, and full-time employee positions alike. Workforces are thin and workloads are high. In prior years the pay was not as competitive and remote work was not expected, but that may be changing here in the future. Work/life balance is pretty non-existent in most areas.
