Pros

Coworkers are helpful and willing to assist

Cons

Compensation is Uncompetitive: Pay is low, benefits are poor, and the benefits package was recently weakened (e.g., taking away the option to purchase vacation). The high cost of parking further reduces effective take-home pay. Demotivating Pay Structure: The company enforces a mandatory, non-merit-based performance distribution (e.g., forcing 25% below, 10% below, and 15% partial ratings), which punishes high performers and is inherently unfair. Non-Existent Work-Life Balance: There is an implied expectation that you must stay at work until all tasks are complete, regardless of the time. This is compounded by management calling employees on their scheduled time off, demonstrating a complete lack of respect for personal boundaries. Poor Management/Accountability: The work environment is not supportive. Management is poor, and employees frequently get blamed for mistakes made by others or for issues that occurred while they were away.

Pros

There is real opportunity for career and skill growth. The company runs short on head count, so people willing to take on more responsibilities have avenues to progress. However, you will need to force the issue for promotions & large salary increases after you prove your capabilities. Realistically it'll take an external counteroffer to move the needle.

Cons

It's a large bank and you're a number in the system. If your NPV is positive you'll stay, else you'll be laid off. This includes both scenarios you control and those you don't. Ex. You control your performance, in office time and networking You don't control if your location is a strategic growth site, if a major client goes with a competitor, or if you'd be impacted by a general company-wide layoff plan.
