Pros

Free catered lunches. Free snacks. Team building events like deep sea fishing, paintball once or twice a year. Happy Hour organized by employees. Some really terrific, under appreciated people. Flexible work hours for now. Management seems to be stopping some of this. Relaxed dress code for now. T-shirts are still prevalent.

Cons

Pay is 20% lower then average. Who doesn’t want to work in a shoe box with wall-to-wall cubicles? Natural light is overrated. OSHA bathroom requirements are really more of a guideline. “Free lunch” really means a 30 minute working lunch break. Communication is very poor. The rumor mill holds up the place. Without hyperbole, the most ugly, political environment I’ve ever seen. The flagship product is an automated floor scrubber which is as sexy as a Pontiac Aztec but also part of an oddly competitive market. Telling your family, “No, it’s not like a Roomba…. It’s smarter. Kind of.” or “Kind of like a Zamboni but not as cool” or “No, not forklifts yet…. One day. Maybe.” The product won’t scale. It’ll take three years to realize this, throw in the towel.

Considering size of company the number of leadership/management is proportionally high contributing to many lines of communication. Some leaders are relatively new to their positions lacking knowledge to devise well develop technical product strategy and project plan to launch successfully.
