Pros
Lynchburg has a low cost of living. The salaries at the company have become more competitive over the last year. If you are interested in getting some managerial experience to add to your resume, there are a lot of opportunities here. The company is also desperate to hire engineers, so there are opportunities even if you were not the most serious of students.
Cons
Lack of competent leadership. Lots of nepotism in the managerial ranks. The company is very unaccepting of individuals that do not match a certain profile. Discrimination is tolerated. Your manager will not be able to help you learn your job, and most of the experienced engineers left when the job market improved. Technical expertise is not valued at this company and turnover is extremely high in the engineering ranks. You are forced to work an extra 30 minutes every day to compensate for the company’s unpaid lunch policy. The equipment and processing at the company are too outdated to offer real experience towards getting a job at another company. Despite promises of high tech and cutting edge jobs, the jobs are normally boring and paperwork oriented. If you want to build a career on your technical abilities, skip this company. A quick look at the resumes of the unit and section managers will show that the company has little regard for the quality of a degree or technical experience.
