Pros

Helping children and devoted direct care staff.

Cons

Poor work/life balance, lack of leadership communication and lack of support for staff working direct care. DSP's are not valued and recognized for their hard work. Too much money is spent at the top of leadership or trying to grow the organization when there are not enough staff to provide the direct care work thus creating over time and stress for the DSP's.

Pros

Continued opportunities to grow. As a non-profit it also means that these positions aren't always visible, but instead are opened as the agency grows and needs support in different ways.

Cons

Sometimes the stress of the impact we can have is a lot, not a con for Balance Autism, but a good reminder about the Human Service field. Thinking about how we support ourselves in good stress management is important, but also seeking out others (in and outside the organization) for this is support is also ideal.
