Pros
If you are looking for a perfect company, it doesn't exist. Everywhere has its problems. The cool thing about BaseCamp is that its problems are unlike those at nearly any other company, and its strengths you won't find anywhere else. The founders are salt of the earth, good-hearted people. They sincerely care about their employees and franchisees, and want to provide the best for them. They are also very frugal but very generous people. As a result, they attract top-notch people to work for them, who make the workplace a positive and friendly environment. The friendships I've made at BaseCamp are genuine and help make everyday life wonderful.
Cons
Communication is not always a strong suit, but BaseCamp knows that and is working on it. Things are improving, but we often fall into the trap of forgetting who we're supposed to include in on what information. To be fair, however, I don't know of an organization that doesn't have problems in this area. Working with franchisees can be a treat, but like any customer relationship management situation, it can also not be. You may be used as a punching bag if a store owner is having a bad day, which can wear on morale and self-esteem if you're not prepared for it. The vast majority of franchisees are incredible people and will inspire you. Also, benefits are not fantastic, but they will reward you with increases in compensation if you prove you can add value to the company.
