Great coworkers and management, but corporate screws them over a bit. - Sales Associate Bass Pro Shops Employee Review

Pros

Coworkers are mostly great and management just switched to a much better GM by bringing back Ken. Managers are mostly solid. Employee discount is really good, and the health/dental/vision plans are worthwhile. The clientele is decent for a mall store. Some of the mall food court stores give you a 10% discount. Schedules are flexible.

Cons

You are expected to be partly a credit card salesman (though the Club card is genuinely a decent store credit card, the focus on it can be surprising if you haven't experienced it before). Half of the handhelds are constantly broken (earphone jack and mobile pay especially). Corporate is stingy on hours. Inventory system runs off of a positively ancient and not well-optimized program. It's attached to a mall, which means theft gets crazy. Very few truly full-time positions are available. Pay is a bit low, and the yearly assessment raises are small.

Pros

Bass Pro Shops has a strong team culture, and the people are one of the best parts of working here. I've had the opportunity to work with talented and supportive coworkers who are willing to collaborate and help each other succeed. The company also offers exposure to large-scale marketing initiatives and provides opportunities to work on a variety of projects across multiple channels and business areas.

Cons

The compensation and benefits package could be more competitive, especially when compared to similar marketing roles in the industry. Project timelines are often extremely aggressive, leaving little room for unexpected challenges and creating a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. While the work can be rewarding, the combination of tight deadlines and limited resources can make it difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance at times.
