Pros

I've been with the company for 5 months. I can genuinely say, I've never been happier with any other career, including the 6 years I was a public school teacher. ABA is so much more rewarding. I look forward to every single day. Now that I've been with my assigned kiddos for some time, I've gotten to know them and their families well. I love working collaboratively with parents, guardians, and/or caregivers to watch my kiddos grow. And you DO see growth. Some days I go home with hurting cheeks from having smiled so big all day. I also can't say enough about my superiors (i.e. BTs, BCBAs, Supervisors). They are available around the clock for any questions I have. They get back to me ASAP and go way above and beyond to help. The entire company is an exemplar of professionalism. There are many perks in addition to directly helping special needs kiddos. The pay is competitive. There are events the company hosts, like paint nights and toy swaps. I get over $100/month back in mileage! There's always opportunities to move up (which I plan to do). If I have a client cancellation, it's very easy for me to fit one of my other kiddos into that slot to keep my hours. I can't say enough about Beacon. I can finally say I've found my career forever home!

Cons

I can't think of one negative aspect. When I was applying for this job, I noticed negative comments about cancellations. To those folks, I would suggest reaching out to superiors ASAP. You can fill with a makeup kiddo, go make a PECS book, take an online training, etc. There's ALWAYS a way to make up the time. You have to be proactive and speak up.)

Pros

Beacon took me in with no experience and taught me everything I know. I went through training from ABT to BT, CPR training through the company and even began the masters program to become a behavior analyst.

Cons

Employees don’t seem to last very long long

Pros

Age range is great. Little kiddos .

Cons

Cancelations: lets say you drove 30 minutes ,then a text appears seeing, canceled. The company wont pay you for the drive or lost session AND your responsible to set uo a makeup session. During holiday season, alot of cancelations happen, Therfore lost hours and pay. Dont believe it when they aay" we'll put you in other cases" . They'll try but it most likely wont be available. TRAINING: If your experienced, trust me your better off in another place. The training they advertised is 2 weeks of seeding/shadowing . But nope ,thats an estimate. Some people have shadowing times for months. At a training rate. Meaning you have to stay like a shadow at a session, go to random houses and sit there watching and occasionally practice for 2 hours. This can be exciting at first, but when it goes on for weeks and weeks , your pay will be low and your previous skills are very undervalued. Dont get excited about the pay : The pay rate lured me in, but considering the amount of time they needed to "find clients" for me , and teh amount of cancelations or no place for you to go, the rate is nothing .
