Pros

The families you work with are so amazing. You get to form great bonds and make a difference. Hearing a child say their first words or master something they used to struggle with is amazing.

Cons

Hardly any communication. Supervisors don't return calls, emails or texts. Scheduling is always a mess and usually leaves you with long gaps just to sit in your car. Not to mention extreme mileage on your car because you'll never get a case as close to home as they claim. Fee for service isn't that great especially with all the cancellations. There's no support. If there is an issue there is no support from higher up staff members. I've witnessed co workers just get ignored and never hear back until they just end up quitting. If you need help you have to hound your supervisor. They put you into the field really fast too it can get really overwhelming. I've witnessed many people training who just aren't ready to be on their own and supervisors won't listen. Lost a lot of great staff members due to not enough training before just throwing them out to be on their own. They offer lots of trainings but they just end up being the same trainings at all the quarterly meetings. Each BT and even each region does things so differently. There needs to be more fluidity in how basic things are done. It gets so confusing if you're an ABT. You have to remember to do it one way with this staff member and another with that staff member where you just want to do what's best for the child.

Pros

Beacon took me in with no experience and taught me everything I know. I went through training from ABT to BT, CPR training through the company and even began the masters program to become a behavior analyst.

Cons

Employees don’t seem to last very long long

Pros

Age range is great. Little kiddos .

Cons

Cancelations: lets say you drove 30 minutes ,then a text appears seeing, canceled. The company wont pay you for the drive or lost session AND your responsible to set uo a makeup session. During holiday season, alot of cancelations happen, Therfore lost hours and pay. Dont believe it when they aay" we'll put you in other cases" . They'll try but it most likely wont be available. TRAINING: If your experienced, trust me your better off in another place. The training they advertised is 2 weeks of seeding/shadowing . But nope ,thats an estimate. Some people have shadowing times for months. At a training rate. Meaning you have to stay like a shadow at a session, go to random houses and sit there watching and occasionally practice for 2 hours. This can be exciting at first, but when it goes on for weeks and weeks , your pay will be low and your previous skills are very undervalued. Dont get excited about the pay : The pay rate lured me in, but considering the amount of time they needed to "find clients" for me , and teh amount of cancelations or no place for you to go, the rate is nothing .
